On 3 October 2003 in the city of Sofia ceremonially was opened a monument to John Atanasoff – the Father of the Computor. Speeches were delivered by the President Georgy Parvanov, His Excellency the Ambassador of the U. S. James Pardew, Prof. Ivan Lalov-Chairman of the Initiative Committee for the monument, the mayor of Sofia Stephan Sofiansky. On invitation of TANGRA TanNakRa ALL BULGARIAN FOUNDATION for the 100th anniversary of the inventor and the opening of the monument in Bulgaria arrived his wife Mrs. Alice Atanasoff, his son John Atanasoff II, his daughter Joanne Gathers and other members of the family.
