MONUMENT
The monument to John Atanasoff will be situated
to the west of the Central Post office Building’s frontal area
and will be oriented towards Gourko boulevard in Sofia.
This provides gook visibility from all directions.
The portrait of John Atanasoff is weaved into a shape, symbolizing
the Globe. This emphasizes the all human his significance of his
invention.
The vertical and horizontal lines gathering into (or starting
from) the portrait manifest the four world directions and imply
the idea that the computer is an invention with great importance
to the integration and the progress mankind.
From greater distance, the discreet design of the continents fades
away and the figure acquire the form of a tree.
The crown of the tree (or the Globe’s symbol) assumes the meaning
of a halo to John Atanasoff’s portrait.
Authors of the project are Valko Tsenov-sculptor
and Stephen Minchev - architect
